Homemade Baby Food
Noah is now 7 months old and has been eating solids for a month and a half now. When we left Florida this summer I packed one box of baby cereal for Noah. But after that box ran out it was time to start the challenge of feeding him solids when we can't read any of the baby food labels!! We realized quickly that baby food is EXPENSIVE here in Japan to say the least. This lead to some time of frustration and then I quickly decided that I was going to make Noah's baby food from scratch. At first this sounded time consuming but once I started to make it it ended up being A LOT cheaper and really fun. So far Noah has enjoyed carrots, squash, bananas, avocado, green beans and his favorite apple sauce!! It's funny because the food I make tastes so good that I would eat it if I had to...and Noah seems to enjoy it a lot too!! For those mommies out there who are interested in making baby food but don't know where to start there is an awesome baby food site(http://www.wholesomebabyfoods.com). It will help you understand when to feed what foods, the proper ways to prepare them, and what foods to stay away from. The pictures on this posting is actually an applesauce recipe I found on the site that you can make in the crockpot. Basically you just cut up the apples, put a little water in it and let is simmer for 8 hours. A plus side is it makes your whole house smell like apples!! Hope this helps!!
